What’s a PR Travel Document Application?

PR Travel Document is a substitute proof of your permanent residency in Canada. If are planning to return to Canada but do not have a valid PR Card, you can apply for a PR Travel Document to get entry into the country. Also, your PR card can only be re-issued in Canada, so if you are outside the country and your card is no longer valid, you can apply for PRTD (Permanent Residence Travel Document) to enter the country.

Documents Required for Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) Application:

• Application Form (IMM 5524): The primary application form for the PRTD.
• Proof of permanent resident status
• Proof of identity
• Photographs
• Proof of residency in Canada
• Travel history
• Supporting documents for humanitarian and compassionate grounds
• Payment receipt: proof of payment of the application fee.

Process for Applying for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD):

• Complete the application
• Prepare supporting documents
• Photographs
• Pay the application fee: pay the required fee online and save the receipt.
• Submit the application: submit the completed application, with all supporting documents, and the fee receipt to the nearest Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Canadian visa office.

• Receive the PR Travel Document: If the application is approved, you will receive the Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD), which will be affixed to your passport or travel document.
