PR Travel Document is a substitute proof of your permanent residency in Canada. If are planning to return to Canada but do not have a valid PR Card, you can apply for a PR Travel Document to get entry into the country. Also, your PR card can only be re-issued in Canada, so if you are outside the country and your card is no longer valid, you can apply for PRTD (Permanent Residence Travel Document) to enter the country.
Ensure you meet the residency obligation of living in Canada for at least 730 days within the last five years.
Use the PR Travel Document to board a flight or other commercial carrier to Canada.
Once in Canada, apply for a new PR card if your previous card gets lost, stolen, or expired.
